Football Collectors' Fair

There will be a Football Collectors' Fair held at the Swallow Hotel (Five-barred Gate), Samlesbury on Bank Holiday Monday, 3rd May 2010. There will be stalls (I've got one) selling books, programmes, badges and other memorabilia.I have asked t'Stanley Admin/Commercial Manager to talk with the organiser with a view to holding one at the Crown ground. The manager is enquiring as to the possibility of hiring the main room. Have you any view on the viability of having a fair here? I have little Stanley stuff apart from a 'Complete Record' The man I bought my stock off ( or rather his estate executor) had no Stanley programmes, though plenty of other clubs. I wonder if the big lot of Stanley programmes recently advertised as coming up for auction came from where I bought my books from.

Re: Football Collectors' Fair

I can now add to this: The fair is open 10.30am to 1.30pm. The Stanley staff have done nothing after me suggesting they contact the organiser to get a fair held at the Crown ground. If you are a user of the Rovers or Clarets website - or any other football one, please will you post about the Samlesbury fair.

Re: Football Collectors' Fair

I used to go to quite a lot of football programme fairs, however after a few years it was the same dealers at the same venues selling the same old stuff. I think Accy Stanley would be a good venue and prove more popular than people think.

Andrew - thanks for this positive comment. I want to tell you how much I enjoy your late night TV shows talking with Michael Portillo & Dianne Abbot.

Re: Football Collectors' Fair

these programme fairs are usually quite well attended, and by football fans, to not have one at The Crown Ground but to have one at a hotel just seems daft! A fair like this brings people from far and wide (well county wide anyway) and many would be visiting the ground for the first time. And it's an excuse to have the club shop open, and its an excuse to have the bar open.

Wakey wakey Stanley staff - it's offered to you on a plate!

Couldn't agree more rob, that side of things still seems very lax to me.

Re: Football Collectors' Fair

Great idea to have programme fair at ASFC I for one would have a stall with many ASFC,Blackburn and Burnley to sell
If you give the club a free stall it would give them chance to sell there surplius programmes from this season and it would be an excellent chance for the club as a Google Page Ranking exercise
