Re: Man Utd to sign Owen?
People who say Owen is past it may well be eating their words at the end of the coming season. Fergie has a way with older "past it" players. He got the best out of Sheringham after signing him late in his career. You only have to look at their current squad and a certain Van dar sar.
His best days are long gone, numerous injuries to his hamstrings have depleted him of the pace that used to terrorize defences around Europe but he's a natural poacher and will always know the route to goal.
He'll be playing in a far better side with United and if he scores goals there then an England call up won't be out of the question, and let's face it, a relatively fit Michael Owen is probably still a better option than the likes of Defoe, Carlton Cole and Gabriel Agbonlahor when it comes to naming the world cup squad.

Ya but that millionaire wasn't an American nor an Arab or a Ruskie, he was just a bloke who stood on the terraces at Ewood when he was a lad and when he made good decided to help HIS home town club, lots more tried it and failed and we ain't exactly done that bad really considering Uncle Jack has been in the big football stadium in the sky for 8 years

A fit Michael Owen is the optimum, and I think even he will tell you he has lost that extra yard of pace that used to terrorise Prem defences, but if he can keep fit he will score goals for United because they make chances for fun when they're on song. Even so they're going to have a hell of a job to replace Ronaldo, love him or hate him he was good player, with just one fault, he thought it was a foul if anybody took the ball of him and his toys came out the pram

Re: Man Utd to sign Owen?
Owen was a damn good goalscorer, no question, but his major asset was his pace, not so with Sheringham, plus eveyone knows a good keeper (Van De Saar) will easy outlast a good striker, so can't see yer comparison.

Re: Man Utd to sign Owen?
If Owen can stay fit, this could well be the most astute signing of the season. Owen is only 29 and nowhere near the end of his career. If anyone can get him back on track, it's Ferguson.
