Silly Season
The new season is here (or over if you’re Newcastle) and so its time for great predictions, great optimism and great fools! Here are just a few that have embraced this period of time, known as the silly season.
"I have to focus on the players we have here now who I rate as good a squad as even Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in most respects.”
I am not sure what ‘respect’ Alan Pardew is talking about but I am guessing it’s the ability to sing ‘My Old Man’s a Dustman’.
"I didn't come into football to win money. When I saw I could do something with my feet I wanted to make sure people would remember the player that I was - that's all."
Thierry Henry shoots himself in his ‘special’ foot for any improved contract negotiations.
And worst of all…
"Phil [Neville] is a quality footballer who will, I feel certain, improve and enhance the squad we are putting together." David Moyes… it’s just wrong.
Once again Liverpool have bought BIG over the summer, trying hard to avoid bringing in any deadwood. But for every Alonso there is a Harry Kewell, so which one of these lot will stick out this season?
