The Seasons started
A good predictor for the first week
* Blackburn had a player sent off for a horrendous two-footed tackle. * Steven Gerrard was Liverpool's most potent attacking player. * Absolutely nothing happened at Fulham. * Everton fans complained to police that Wayne Rooney had made 'gestures'. * Wigan lost. But immediately became known as 'brave Wigan'. * Sam Allardyce raged at the officials who cost Bolton points. * Arsenal did not have a Plan B. * Portsmouth's complete unknowns John Viafara and Azar Karadas were absolutely rotten. * El-Hadji Diouf had a penalty appeal turned down. * Ruud van Nistelrooy scored a goal from about four yards. And dived. * Somebody said: "It's early in the season but that has to be a contender for goal of the season." * Stuart Pearce's touchline antics were more interesting than Citeh v West Brom. * Thierry Henry scored...and didn't smile. * It rained in Manchester
