Re: World Cup Thread
Absolutely disgusting - IMHO this comes from having a foreign manager who does not select/play to the strengths of the Premier League players - without doubt, the strongest league in the world, yet he changes the system they play week in - week out
:-(((

...it might also have something to do with the players being a bunch of overpaid, spoiled, petulant prima donnas who, for the most part, have no pride in their country and no regard for the fans who travel thousands of miles to watch them, being far more concerned about their over-inflated wage packets and their luxury lifestyles.

Suitable punishment would be to make them spend the 10 hour flight home rubbing/applying 'Dubbin' to their boots

Got to agree with the Man ! No pride & no commitment, self centred & egotistical, as Cashy stated, sack em all & get some youngsters who'll play for Pride & Honour.

Total agreement - but I still feel that the manager has to bear the brunt od the criticism. After all he chooses the squad, selects the team and decides the tactics.
He selected injured players, out of form players, donkeys (Heskey has not scored since February), players who play well in one formation do not necessarily play well in another format - don't ask me why, but few Premier League teams play 4-4-2, and certainly in Europe, where we are strong in all competitions the teams almost always play 4-5-1.
If you look at the consistently strong teams in the world, then the chances are that the manager is a national of that country and was an international player.
The answer - I don't know. Perhaps the manager should be chosen by a small panel of ex internationals and not the plonkers in Soho Square - perhaps they should fall on their swords first.

Sorry Wyn but the likes of Messi and Kaka are paid far more than England team members yet they always seem to play to their strenths

Not really, there are plenty of foreigners play here and are playing quite well in South Africa, the problem is much deeper than that, Rooney plays a lone striking roll for MU Gerrard plays centre mid field for Liverpool, Heskey warms the bench at Villa, Terry and Upson were our third choice central defencive partnership, to me the only player that plays for England he way he pays at club level is Ashley Cole and I never thought I'd say that
