The Andorran team set out to provoke Rooney and he can only take so much. But he did last a lot longer than he used to so that has to be an improvement.
Maybe it was rather fortuitous that Lampard broke a bone in his hand as it forced Maclaren to not play him. The result was a better performance from Gerrard and two goals – eventually. But then many people have the same opinion and that is to play either Lampard or Gerrard but not both. I was very pleased for the lad David Nugent even though he only got ten minutes to make his mark. Maybe there are more gems in the Championship?
