You wanted an english manager
you got one
and now stop whining that he's useless etc
i cant believe how fans who were to the point desperate that the england manager should be english and now htey've got their english manager they should start to realise they were wrong.
this is why managers like o neill and scolari were wanted by the FA - they were thinkin with a much clearer head seeing what talent pool they had to choose from.
stuart pearce another choice - look what he's done at city.
its angering me so much that all those fans who were so against scolari and for an engish manager are now the same fans wanting mclarens head.

Re: You wanted an english manager
After Erikson I was one of many who thought that an English manager is what the national team needed. I also thought that after what Steve Maclaren had done at Middlesbro, with the right number two they could do a great job.
Unfortunately the FA picked Venables who tends to melt into the background when things go awry but comes out to the front when we win a match. Venables may have all the right coaching qualifications but it takes more than a few pieces of paper to motivate players. And that’s what the England teams needs - a motivating management team.
Stuart Pierce didn’t have the managerial experience that a national manager would need but I think that he would have made a very good number two. His enthusiasm and dedication would rub off on the players as it did when he was playing. A few years as assistant would have taught him the skills needed to manage big name players. Maybe in 8 or 10 years time he could become England’s manager.
The other problem is Gerrard and Lampard. Play either but not both and play them where they are most effective.

Re: You wanted an english manager
I wasn't bothered what the nationality of the manager was, just as long has he had the right experience for the job. I always said that Mclaren wasn't right, afterall, who did he learn from at international level?
ERICSSON.
If people wanted an English manager, then the obvious choice IMO would have been Alladyce. Unfortunately the powers that be at the FA wanted a yes man, & not somebody that may upset the applecart once in a while.

Re: You wanted an english manager
Every football fan in England thinks they know what the national side needs.
In reality, no one has a clue.
English international football is totally stale, resting on false pride because they fluked the '66 cup final.
Top flight players are only interested in sponsorship deals and appearing on Sky. It's no wonder there's no hunger to win anything in the national team.

Re: You wanted an english manager
i know hardly jack about football but even i know that david beckham should not have been dropped
teh day he dropped beckham he should have been sacked because just like the likes of gazza he is good at creating a goal out of nothing and usualy in a spectacular fashion and to replace him with a no body just shows his incompitance
failing to qualify will be a good thing so that this manager can be given the boot and a propper one put in

Re: You wanted an english manager
the 1st premiership title was 1993.. Man Utd won it ...there have only been 4 managers to win the premiership, none of them English.

Re: You wanted an english manager
I agree with Chav, they should never have dropped Beckham, I think he had respect from his team members and was good at keeping them motivated, though their wage packet alone should do that.

Re: You wanted an english manager
I did not see any reason to drop Beckham, seems to me he was made the scapegoat for our poor showing in the World Cup even though he performed alot better than some players who are still in the team..Lampard is one that springs to mind.. totally non-existant in the WC.

Re: You wanted an english manager
i think becham should have been dropped you cant keep players for one min of magic once in a blue moon .england keep trying to acomodate to many mid field players time to go back to good old 4-4-2 with players with bottle and heart and not over payed bank balances .bring players in who are performing to there best form and not what they have done in the past .england should have got fergouson for manager which hurts me to say being a liverpool lad!

Re: You wanted an english manager
Last nights first half performance was abysmal, Rooney booked for an off the ball incident - again, the lad needs to grow up.Thank goodness he's suspended for the next game, maybe David Nugent will get a start, he's about the only one with any enthusiasm and pride in playing for his country, maybe because he comes from a championship team and not one of the overpaid premiership prima donnas. Ok they won 3 nil in the end but only because the part-timers from Andorra got tired.
