any mechanics here , need some urgent advice

just a quick but important question about a car

if you were to see a car with 40 thousand miles and saw that the steering wheel was very severely worn would you be thinking that car was not displaying its true milage

i know very little about cars but somthing smells very wrong about this car and i know from reading auto trader that people advertise altering of didgital milage

i have the same model car with 74 thousand and my steering wheel is imaculate

thanx for any ideas etc

Check for wear on the drivers seat and the pedal rubbers, although I suppose the rubbers could be changed. How old is it? Are there any old MOT's or any service history?

Why are you sniffing the seat?

Either that or the driver is very heavy handed.

I seem to remember a top gear prog' that gave hint's about car age by mileage, and so far as the steering wheel is concerned if it's starting to go shiny about 100k miles+

Is it the original steering wheel? Some boy racer type might have swopped the wheel for one of a higher model from a scrappy.

Re: any mechanics here , need some urgent advice

forgot to mention

the cover that covers the diesel engine had 4 fasteners missing leaving it loose and when i asked where they were he told me it was normal for a diesel engine to vibrate and thats why they had come loose and fallen off an said it would be pointless replacing them

am i naive in thinking a 4 year old car with 41 thousand miles should be looking pretty bloody new under the hood and interior

i have a 4 year old car of the same model and double the milage just a different size engine and mine looks a damn sight better

i think ive just answered my own question lol they can kiss my ass i want my 200 quid deposit back

i will say after i have got my money back lol

if the somthing has been fiddled i dont think its the company thats selling me the car that has done it but the person who traded it in

somthing just dosnt add up about this car and everyone including people who have posted here thinks theres somthing fishy about it so ime taking the advice i was given by a friend which was if you have any doubts what so ever about a car you should walk away from it as there are plenty of others about

Re: any mechanics here , need some urgent advice

well i went back with a friend to get my deposit back and was promtly ganged up on by a flood of salesmen then cornered into a room where they tried every trick in the book to get me to buy the car , my friend was told to leave the room and i was spoke to like i was a child and the bullsh*t they were coming out with was unbelievable

the idiot even demanded an appology for wasting their time

trading standards are on the case now
