Re: go karting!!!!!
I used to organise with work colleagues full events, with several heats, and then the people with more points going through to the final rounds and then the final.
They lasted for either a morning or an afternoon and were always great fun, and even more fun when it was wet. Have you ever tried driving a go-kart in the wet with slick tyres? One wrong move and you end up spinning like a top. The same effect can be achieved while going round a corner and being hit by someone who thinks he's Michael Schumacher, but who in fact is really more like his brother Ralf...
I used to be not too bad - I did an endurance race where we came 3rd, and I was in the final, running second and catching the leader, when they put a stop to the race due to the light failing.
It's weird, but I didn't notice how bad the light was until I stopped - up to that point I could see perfectly, and was most disappointed when they stopped the race.
If you have never raced outdoors, I can't recommend it enough
