Passo dello Stelvio.

Last year whilst working near to Bergamo, in northern Italy, I managed to blagg a company car one Sunday for a brief tour into the Alps (550 km). The highlight was to drive over Stelvio, which is the second highest pass in Europe at about 2760m.
I've just come across a Lotus Owners club site, www.stelvio.org.uk which shows some photos of the northern side of Stelvio pass. This is real driving country and not a yellow flack jacket or speed camera in sight.
If you click on the Stelvio videos link, http://www.daveakerman.com/~tchurly/2003.wmv it shows some lucky sod in a Lotus Elise tanning the **** off it, driving south up the austrian side.
Does someone have a Mini Cooper S going spare? Coz i'd be off on me hols.

A man after my own heart, i just had a big grin on my face waching that!! There were 2 things that spoiled it
1 the bad positioning of the camera
2 the winging voice drowning out the sound of a propper motor.
Well done sparki, if you find that spare cooper s give us a shout..

Re: Passo dello Stelvio.

The Italians have the Stelvio and we have Whinney Hill. Ah well.
Good video but I see what you mean about the winging voice. Mind you, the K series engine dosn't have the best noise. Imagine the same road with the wail of a V12 Ferrari or the screaming straight cut gears of a Mini.
There are several roads I want to experience before I die. I've done Molls Gap and the Healey Pass. One day I'll get a crack at the Stelvio.
