60's Odds, Sods & Mods
The 60's were times of great musical change in Britain and I think it would be interesting to see who were everyone's favourite bands (or even one hit wonders) from the decade.
For me it's between The Beatles, The Small Faces and The Who.

Re: 60's Odds, Sods & Mods
The Bobby Fuller Four - hit the US charts with a brilliant cover of the Crickets' "I Fought The Law" (later ruined by the Clash). Then released an equally brilliant version of the Crickets' "Love's Made A Fool Of You". Along with Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bobby took the spirit of 50's rock 'n' roll into the 60's. But, sadly, not for long...Bobby was found dead in his car, reeking of gasoline, in an LA parking lot in the summer of '66. The offical verdict was suicide, but darker theories abound. He left some great music behind, though.

Re: 60's Odds, Sods & Mods
Oh and like Anne said Elvis, but he's timeless, not confined to just one decade.

Re: 60's Odds, Sods & Mods
interesting tidbit I came across the other day , tangentaly relates to this thread, during the 60 there was a crap group called 'the Dave Clark 5' supposed to be Londons answer to the Mersey sound .......anyway it seems Dave Clark now owns the rights to the TV show Ready Steady Go and everytime the show is aired in re-runs it is 'doctored -up' to include a song by the Dave Clark 5 group doing one of their songs .......sounds like the guy has a bit of an ego ........

Re: 60's Odds, Sods & Mods
The Dave Clark 5 were brilliant. Only someone who wasn't there in the 60s can come out with a statement like "during the 60 there was a crap group called 'the Dave Clark 5' supposed to be Londons answer to the Mersey sound"
Here they come agai-ain,
mmm mm mm
Catch us if you ca-an.
mmm mm mm
Time to get a move on
mmm mm mm
We will yell with all of our might
Catch us if you ca-an
Catch us if you ca-a-a-a-a-an
Catch us if you ca-a-a-a-a-an
Catch us if you can.
* * * * * * * * * *
You say that you love me (say you love me)
All of the time (all of the time)
You say that you need me (say you need me)
You'll always be mine (always be mine)
I'm feelin' (DRUM DRUM) glad all over
Yes I'm-a (DRUM DRUM) glad all over
Baby I'm (DRUM DRUM)glad all over
Glad you're mi-i-i-i-ine
* * * * * * * * * * * *
(I'm in pieces, bits and pieces)
Since you left me and you said goodbye-eye
(I'm in pieces, bits and pieces)
All I do is sit and cry-y
(I'm in pieces, bits and pieces)
You went away and left me miseree-eee
(I'm in pieces, bits and pieces)
And that's the way it'll always be

I used to know a guy in Blackburn who looked a lot like their keyboard player, Mike Smith.
