The Rockin' Vickers shared a house in Blackpool with an Irish band called the Wheels - big mates of Van Morrison's, who put out some great singles. Saw 'em somewhere in Ossy in '66 - they were a really exciting R&B band.

Can't say I have heard of Wheels Wynonie, but could it be that they changed their name to Them, as Morrison played with Them and they had a hit with Gloria too, in the sixties
Nope, different band, Jaysay. Both from Belfast and both sounded very similar. The Wheels reckoned that Van the Man wrote "Gloria" for them (the Wheels, that is. ).
I had the privilege of meeting this chap back in the seventies and had a long conversation with him when I was his minder when he appeared at the Cav. Carl was one of the nicest blokes I have ever met, sadly he died a couple of years ago, but he was a top bloke
