one for wynonie, this guy had more billboard hits in a 2 yr period late 50s than Elvis n no buggars heard of him. saw him approx 15 yrs ago , electric live.
Top man, Mr C! Not only did he have a string of Billboard hits, he had quite a few in the British charts in the late 50's/early 60's, but he's largely forgotten now. Maximum rock 'n' roll!
This brings back the memories...late Saturday night, mid-70's, sup up, jump on the Blackburn bus, get to the Boulevard, jump on the Chorley bus, change to the Wigan bus, get there, walk down Station Road, join the queue, doors open at 1am, up the stairs, give your money to Mrs Wood, through the doors onto the balcony and look down on a back-flipping, spinning mass of humanity while you look forward to the next seven hours of Northern Soul magic..
owe ya for that mate, got into zydeco when in New Orleans, love Queen Ida, also Jude Taylor @ his Burning Flames, that is real stampin happy music.
thought you might get a kick out of that ......a good movie to rent in the same vein " Schultze gets the Blues"...
Schultze is a retired lignite miner living in an East German village and a passionate Polka musician on his accordion. One night he listens to a Zydeco tune in the radio, which changes his taste of music radically. Notwithstanding his complete ignorance of the English language he starts a trip into the heart of the Zydeco; to Louisana. ,
