Nah! I am on at least 40 gums a day! At least it's not 40 ciggies.
That's a consolation, I was a forty a day man, but gave up without any outside help, there weren't patches and gum in those days, in 1978 haven't had one since
My last jukebox spin got me thinking about the guy who introduced it - the footstompin', fingerpoppin' Emperor Rosko. To my mind, the best UK-based DJ of the 60's. His shows were pure excitement with his frenetic style which was influenced by the legendary American DJs like Wolfman Jack. Not only that, he had immaculate musical tastes and introduced many of us to sounds that would become lifelong favourites. Here's an example of what he sounded like in his prime, along with snatches of the sort of sounds he would play (Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, Booker T.). Take it away, Emperor!
Apart from her Northern soul biggie, which still fills discerning dancefloors to this day, Mickey also recorded a whole heap of 50's R&B groovers like this.
