Band Aid 20
What do you think of this new Band Aid 20 ?
I am a DJ in the northwest and i think they have made a mock out of it.
its all a sham sorry but the original band aid has feeling to it and meaning. this new band aid 20 how can it sell more than 100,000 copies on its first day of release????
i will not be playing band aid 20 it thats for sure its not even got tune to it apart from the awful guitar work.
anyone wants the original no problem !
what do you think ??

Re: Band Aid 20

Re: Band Aid 20
Nowhere near as good as the original. I heard this morning that the new one has sold 250,000 in the first week. The original sold 750,000 in the first week. Don't know if it's because more people bought singles then or if the figures are a testament to how bad this one is. I know I haven't bought a single for years.

Re: Band Aid 20
I can understand that it lacks the feeling of the original. Joss Stone, for example, wasn't even born when the original was released.
It's the same for most of the people there, I guess.

Re: Band Aid 20
I don't think it matters when they were born - it's more a case of talent or the lack thereof. Some bits are better than others.

Re: Band Aid 20
I think it's half and half,it doesn't have as much punch as the original, sounds weak, but the end is better.I agree the guitar bit sounds naff! It's alright coz Status Quo are releasing a greatest hits off the back of their appearance in the video etc.Bit Cynical!Maybe they should have just remixed the original and got all the old lot to pose on the video- I'd like to see them all 20 years on!

Re: Band Aid 20
The original record was lousy and this is even worse. You must be stark raving mad if you spend money on this dross.........throw it down the toilet instead. At least that will save you going out and getting wet. Who are the people who have made this recording? I know I have'nt a clue...are they fourth rate "celebrities" who've failed to get on that TV show?
The"music" is abismal and the cause is even worse.......Africa is a basket case, lets face it and the sooner we stop chucking money at the place the better for all concerned. My only problem is occaisionally having to listen to this drivel when all I want is a quiet pint.

Re: Band Aid 20
It was good the first time round, back then it meant something. This version would be alright if i knew who the singers were.Maybe i'm getting old.

I thought he and Midge Ure were still responsible for the new version?

Re: Band Aid 20
I only heard it all the way through on Friday and it doesn't have the punch of the first one.Partly in agreement with Tealeaf;the first one wasn't that good anyway. It's tragic, but by the time they had got the money to Africa - 3 months after Xmas as it has to go through the various company coffers of the retailers and distribution etc - most of the folks on the video would have been long dead! And besides they ain't Christian's and don't even celebrate Xmas!Anyway Big Bob and Midge are the men behind this one anyway!
