Re: Best gigs

After a long wait due to illness, we finally went to see the Modfather last night at the Apollo. It was worth the wait. Good gig, a few old faves popped into his repertoire, That's Entertainment, Broken Stones, You do something to me, the Changingman. Weller is a brilliant guitarist and the band sounded fantastic. After a decent 5 song encore he ended with Town called Malice. We definitely got our money's worth.

Re: Best gigs

been to loads of gigs, mostly great, best i can remember was a Crystal Palace Garden Party, late 60s, Beach Boys, Joe Cocker, Sha-Na-Na, Richie Havens,Country Joe @ The Fish stage was a half-moon shape in a lake, P1ssed down all 24 hrs, a helicopter flew over the lake about 10-00 sat morning,n Keith Moon jumped out into the lake from about 50/60ft crazy git lol, Donovan turned up n gigged for nothing, one hell of a day.

Saw Weller on the same bill as Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown & Mani, The Charlatans, Echo & The Bunnymen, Andy Rourke of The Smiths, Hooky of Joy Division/New Order ...and Johnny Vegas
Versus Cancer 2007 - Manchester MEN - 30/03/07. Brilliant gig.

Oasis in 2005 was probably the biggest gig I've been to.

My favourite gig though was The Verve on 21st December '07 at Manc Central (formerly GMEX). They played an unbelievable set, nearly every song had the hairs on the back of my neck right on end. The Coral supported too! Superb gig. Electric from start to finish.

Re: Best gigs

Best ..either Tina Turner at the Oakland Coliseum or Stevie Ray Vaughn (opening act Bonnie Raitt) at Concord Pavilion

Worst/Saddest , a 70 odd year old Eartha Kitt doing a late night cabaret act , open air, mid afternoon at the Alameda County annual livestock show .

A close tie between Bobby "Blue" Bland at House of the Blues, New Orleans, 2003 and Champion Jack Dupree at Accrington Jazz Club, 1969.

Re: Best gigs

I went to Manchester Apollo last night to watch The Enemy AGAIN.. it was brilliant they did a half decent cover of the Sex Pistols 'God Save The Queen' which was a shock. U2 still the best Live group IMO
