Re: Depeche Mode

went to see them at MEN last year, I like some of their stuff, mainly the more morbid style songs. hence I prefer the term "Depressed Toad".

Is there anyone else that prefers shall we say the darker styles of music, e.g. some 'Cure' etc

For dark you should watch classic pyschobillies The Cramps, filmed here in a lunatic asylum in 1979 (ignore the 1984 date on the film, that's when it was broadcast) singing the Human Fly.

Murder on the dance floor.

Re: Depeche Mode

I'll admit to liking their song Own Personal Jesus...though I do prefer the Johnny Cash cover version.

Re: Depeche Mode

They were definitely the more 'popish' end of the new romantic/electronic groups. I didn't dislike them but wouldn't say I was a huge fan either. I did like People are People because I liked the words.

They were actually really hard to dance to though, despite being more popish than The Cure or groups like that.

I once walked past Dave Gahn in the street in Manchester - took me about an hour to realise why that bloke had looked so familiar - they were all a bit ordinary.

I really liked 'em especially "See you" but I think that they would have had more success if they'd kept hold of Vince Clarke. A bit like Rovers would have if they'd kept Shearer

Come on Gayle.. DP more "popish" than the Cure!... "love cats" and "Fridays I'm in love" not real hardcore stuff is it.
