Can someone please explain to me what you define as a 'Rock' star, don't understand these different categories. Like Gale has mentioned Dean Martin ... didn't exactly rock to me ?? More crooner/ballad singer.

There can only be one for me, even though I enjoy and admire many others. If it hadn't been for Elvis there would be nothing. Elvis was Rock'n'Roll and was not only a raw, exciting musical talent but also a beautiful, incredibly sexy young man.

Why are there no women mentioned ?? Not that I can give you any examples .. must be one knocking around somewhere .. well, no, not now ..
Does Dusty count ? .. she had a lovely, distinctive voice.

sorry kate one og the Great Women was mentioned early on the late great "Janis Joplin" ya must ave been on the vino to miss her.

cry baby just blows me away, as do most of joplins records. me n bobby mcgee kate is one of the most recorded songs of all time.

I have to agree Granny......Elvis' music is loved by all generations, Tyler likes him at the moment... was very upset when i told him he was dead
