Transformer is good but only a couple of class tunes on it..I'll hold my hand up to Ziggy ..maybe in front of Aladdin.

Re: ITV classic albums.. Band On The Run?
Band on the Run is alright... I think it's been given an undeserved mythic greatness with age though, as have the majority of solo-Beatles-members' albums.
These I would regard as the classics of my own collection; the ones that blow my mind on each successive listen, just as much as they did on the first. In no particular order of preference:
Frank Sinatra - In the Wee Small Hours
Otis Redding - Otis Blue: Otis Redding Sings Soul
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
The Rolling Stones -Let It Bleed
The Who - Who's Next
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Born To Run
Dr. Feelgood - Stupidity
Townes Van Zandt - Live at The Old Quarter, Houston, Texas
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
The La's - The La's
Nirvana - Nevermind
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
I Am Kloot - Sky At Night

I reckon the best album Clapton has played on is Disraeli Gears - Cream

Re: ITV classic albums.. Band On The Run?
Emerson Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery
Genesis - Selling England By The Pound
Yes - Close To The Edge
Vand Der Graff Generator - Pawn Hearts
Marillion - Seasons End
Bit proggy maybe After all, we aren't all fans of 20 min plus tracks and elaborate keyboard solos. But as others have said, what constitutes a so called "classic" album is dependant on your taste.

Re: ITV classic albums.. Band On The Run?
What's a "classic album" anyway? Has it got to be from a certain era? Should it be rock or do other genres count? Can you have greatest hits or best of compilations or must it be an album that was made as an album? Must it be an album that most people will have heard of or can it be a total obscurity? ...and if none of the above rules apply, why isn't this thread just called "My favourite albums"?

To me "Greatest Hits" cannot constitute a Classic Album.

Right, so Jaysay's disqualified. Incidentally, does an album have to be pompous, tedious, pretentious, self-indulgent junk to qualify for the term "classic"?...because that's the way it seems after reading this thread....
....IMHO of course!

Re: ITV classic albums.. Band On The Run?
Reckon the 70's spawned more classic albums than any other decade. Also, judging by the ones mentioned in this thread they are mainly by British artists. My faves include:
Jailbreak - Thin Lizzy
Argus - Wishbone Ash
Songs From The Wood - Jetho Tull
Piece Of Mind - Iron Maiden
Obsession - UFO
