Just been checking a few numbers, and it seems, if you go by the numbers, that the no. 1 song would be wait for it .... "Mull of Kintyre"

What numbers I don't get you???

This was Jimi Hendrix's only official Number One after he passed away...it there for 1 week!

Eric, thanks very much (not!) for invoking this dirge as an earworm in my brain. It's very hard to get rid of!

I presume you mean this so-called song spent most weeks at number one during the period in question. The mind boggles!

Apparently this is the song at Number 1 for most weeks - EVER!!! - 16 weeks in 1991...
