Just heard soul man Jimmy Ruffin had died aged 78, Class singer . R.I.P.

Charity spin-off group The Council Collective performing the extended version of Soul Deep live on Channel 4's "The Tube", 14th December 1984 at the studios of Tyne-Tees Television in Newcastle Upon Tyne. In aid of the striking miners this single featured Paul Weller, Mick Talbot, Dee C. Lee, Jimmy Ruffin, Junior Giscombe, Dizzy Hites and Vaughan Toulouse

Hey, loved this guy. Always remember first time I saw him was in the Cabaret Room at The Cavendish. Still have loads of his LP's

I went to see him at Cavendish too , unfortunately I drank too much and ended up with my head over toilet and missed Jimmy altogether ..........youth! I have learned since though , although it did take a few years.

Last time I saw Jimmy was at the Hilden Christmas "Do" at the Dunkenhalgh about12 years ago. He told my mate's wife to p**s off when she asked for an autograph after the show. He was still superb though.
