I'm going through a phase of listening to movie soundtracks atm. 'Flash Gordon' by Queen, Daft Punks 'TRON Legacy' Album and 'The Inception' Album by Hans Zimmer are a few of my current favourites.
A few of my favourite standalone tracks include 'Chateau' from the 'Matrix Reloaded' Album, and 'Whisper Of A Thrill' from 'Meet Joe Black' (I know, I have quite varied tastes).
^ Good morning Vietnam is a good shout. If you're a fan of 60's music the Forest Gump soundtrack is a good one to check out - it's more of a collection of songs than a made for purpose soundtrack though.
^^ I have the Top Gun album. Bit of a guilty pleasure that one
Visited a old aircraft carrier last week that had a F15 Tomcat on board, the plane from Top Gun, they have a 8 Track fitted, just so the pilot can play this:

Not sure if Top Gun in a fighter plane would be such a good idea. I tend to drive faster when I put fast music on in the car; with Top Gun in a plane I might be be tempted to fire a few rogue missiles off just for atmospheric effect
