Photograph on this site, of the concert at Oswaldtwistle Town Hall, their last ever gig, 1978.

I saw this band at the time, somewhere local. I must have bought their single (possibly at a gig). I'm glad I did, as just a year or two back, I was selling a lot of my old Punk singles on eBay and got about £40 for the Schoolgirl Bitch 45. It was in mint condition, as I must have played it at the time and thought ''this is crap'' and stored it away, never to be played again. I did play it through just before I stuck it on eBay and it was still crap (lol) No offence to the band members if they read this.
Apparently, it's a punk rarity and quite sought after, so if you know someone with a copy, tell 'em I'll give them a fiver for it.

I saw the Buzzcocks at the Mecca. You're right, it was a Students Union do (a Thursday night, I think) and the main band was another Manchester band, Sad Cafe. They played on the stage (which wasn't much of a stage in the Mecca) and the Buzzcocks played on the floor, in front of the stage. I went to see the Buzzcocks, as I was quite into punk back then (still am, to a lesser extent).

We supported the Buzzcocks at one gig at the Mecca - I'm not sure if they did two, 1st one in 76 then the 2nd one in 77? I think we did the 2nd one.

Well at least John Peel played it on Radio One several times - so it can't have been that bad. I think one sold with the original sleeve for well over £200:00 on Ebay, not sure of the exact amount. I sold one on Ebay with out the original sleeve, but with the second sleeve for about £150:00.

Just came across some more information about The Cybermen, and their record label, Rockaway.
This British punk band released two 7" records on their own Accrington-based Rockaway label: The Cybermen EP (1978, aka Cybernetic Surgery) and the double A-side You're to Blame/It's You I Want (1979). Their songs boast intelligent lyrics, well-performed vocal harmonies and catchy riffs, but little is known about the group besides the line-up: Ian P Dixon (Bass/Vocal), Paul Milek (Drums) and Roger Entwistle (Guitar/Vocal). Because of their name, some record dealers will attempt to charge ludicrous amounts of money for these records, but they're worth hearing should you find someone selling them at an honest price!
Drivin' along in Abbott's Town
Only have one thing on my mind
Keepin' my eyes upon the road
I'm in the cyberwar, with my
Cybernetic Surgery
Cybernetic Surgery, I
Am a machine I can decree, with my
Cybernetic Surgery
Ain't got no legs they're in the car
Ain't got no mind it's in a jar
[ - ]
[ - ], with my
Cybernetic Surgery
Cybernetic Surgery, I
Am a machine I can decree, with my
Cybernetic Surgery, Ah!
It is real
Or is it a dream
I feel so funny
I wanna scream

Drivin' along in Abbott's Town
Only have one thing on my mind
Keepin' my eyes upon the road
I'm in the cyberwar, with my
Cybernetic Surgery
Cybernetic Surgery, I
Am a machine I can decree, with my
Cybernetic Surgery
You saw her last weekend
"I'm with someone new"
She looked over at you and then she smiled
You said that you loved her
She said she loved you
Now it looks like she's been tellin' lies
You thought that
She was different, she wasn't like the rest
She was beautiful and so innocent
But now it
Seems she's messed you around just like a fool
And now you know
You're to blame
Took her to the pictures
"I'm with all the crowd"
Sure knew how to treat her so right
Took her to the dances
Music playin' loud
Then you'd always walk her home at night
Every night you lay awake
Thinkin' about her
Sleepless nights are full of memories
You know that you will never forget her
And your eyes are clouded with tears
Now you are so lonely
Nothing else to do
You just have to think of her and then
What you did starts comin' back
What she did to you
Then you know you won't get fooled again
Oh yeah
You're to blame
That's what I said
You're to blame
You're such a fool
You're to blame
The You're to Blame single came with a "Free Info Pack", a sheet of typed and signed A4 paper that revealed that the band had been quiet since their first release (which apparently John Peel had "loved... needless to say") owing to the "unfortunate 'borrowing" of most of their equipment"! The sheet suggested a number of Things You Can Do To Help: - 1. If you like the record (even if you don't) please send a letter to John Peel or any other D.J. and request the record.
2. Tell all your friends to buy a copy (direct from us at £1.00 plus a 12p stamp for post and package) or from your nearest alternative record shop.
3. Write to music papers asking for articles about us.
4. Let your next door neighbours hear it (through the walls).
5. Send us blank cheques and charitable donations!
