Thumbs down Pop Idol & the like

Does anyone see the point of seeing any more future pop idol shows?!? Should they do more shows?

Take the recent one gone by..... where the feck is Steve whom dont think should of won it n released that Phil Collins song he did in the show...anyone know lol

Just seen that the runners up are gonna fair a bit better, G4 have their cover song out least its a slightly different slant to original version [tho to me nothing competes with Queens]. As with the competition b4 that least Girls aloud are still charting n doing well. Runners up in the 1st one did better than the forgotten errr whats their name group .

Liberty X and Hear'say.

Where did that come from? I never saw that series!

I saw Fame Academy though, and it would seem that Lemar is doing OK for himself, when the others sank without trace ages ago

Re: Pop Idol & the like

I think the original buzz around these shows has faded - that being that it was something new and anyone could win.
The X Factor was slightly different in a good way, letting older and younger age groups audition, and allowing vocal groups.
I think the next step for these type of shows has got to be proper band auditions - i believe it would produce better quality of music and would give a better chance of more british bands breaking through - as most popstars thesedays are rarely seen without instruments and backing bands (hence 'vocal groups' like Westlife slowly fading away - at last!!!)

Re: Pop Idol & the like

if your gonna do one on bands you d be better picking them out seperately s in one for vocalists ,one for guitarist etc the pop idol thing should be banned off tv that one with the macmanus girl was a joke she did one song and vanished yet it was a years contract the two runners up are still about but have done nothing and want they both need shooting and hearsay had to be the worst of the lot . The ones from x factor wont last long they are just novelty artists . Its not just the music reality shows that need stopping its all of them including big brother and these celebrity ones .Big brother has got boring and these celeb ones are all has beens just look at that last celeb big brother they had to cut it short by a few days as they kept pulling out before it had even started and the ones that where left i didnt know half of them

I agree that these sort of shows are a bit tiresome by now, but they aren't a recent phenomenon by any means. Remember "Opportunity Knocks"? How many of those winners made successful careers? They had all sorts of different acts on which made it more interesting but in the end it was usually only the singers who stood much chance of making a long term career out of it.

Whatever happened to Bobby Crush?

I don't touch the soaps - I'd rather play computers and immerse myself in either Liberty City or Vice City.

Jacking cars and blowing things up is much more fun!!!

Shameless is brilliant set on a Manchester council estate. Loads of bad language and the gritty side of life but it's got loads of comedy element it's great channel 4 on Tuesday.
