Re: Rock n Roll kings
Ive just voted and I dont mind admitting,it had to be the Pistols.I was at that age when the punk era kicked off.Good on them for livening up what was at the time a boring music industry. If it werent for them half of the bands going today wouldnt have used their influence.Although you could probably say the same with the Beatles,if it wasnt for the pair of them you probably wouldnt have been able to listen to a great band like Oasis,as they regard both the Pistols and the Beatles as being their major influences.

Yes but his acne was much worse than Elvis's. No competition in the beauty stakes.
When in a very early episode of Coronation Street, Ena Sharples called him that 'little chubby Cliff Richard, it made him start dieting like mad in real life.

Re: Rock n Roll kings
The best all time and yet most underated group has to be Queen. Beatles aside they have actually outsold everyone else!
Oh, and lets not forget Marillion! A real class act! also underated!

Re: Rock n Roll kings
Wouldn't say Queen are underated; just that Freddie Mercury is overated in comparison to the rest of the band. Brian May is a guitar legend, John Deacon is a brilliant bassist and Roger Taylor has to be one of the greatest drummers of all time.
Not a patch on Mental Moon though!
There's an extremely underated band; The Who - in my opinion they were every bit as good as the Beatles and progressed in to new forms of rock music brilliantly
(and Roger Daltrey's scream on Won't Get Fooled Again always sends a chill down my spine...pure rock brilliance)

rofl HE is a sort of folk singer but not really like Joni Mitchell and I have to agree with Doug .......... he's brilliant. He's Irish (ex Planxty) who sings in Gaelic and in English and has produced some very emotive stuff if you're into that kind of thing which I am. Some lovely sweet gentle things too. As Doug says, it's a complete range of emotions. I was tempted to list some of my favourites but there are just so many.

Have to agree My favourite being 'Love Reign O'er Me'.
I'm not a fan personally, but I think David Bowie was very talented and was way ahead of the times musically!
lol @ Rock n Roll Kings .... very sexist isn't it? ...... When are we having a Rock n Roll Queens thread?
