Bit of fun this, but I do like the old country stuff.
My song is - Jerry Reed - She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft).
Country songs have some great song titles!

What yer on about? To be honest i was under impression the charts only started officially in 1952? so thats me knackered.

The expression -
"someone from Preston"
is a slang phrase for "country and western".
Someone besides me must have heard it.

Me too, only it was I think according to some northern comedian "Some c---(ladies parts) from Preston".

I tried the link but it only goes back to 1944 so I don't have a clue what my song would be.
'If you were the only girl in the world' was the first song I remember my dad singing so I will choose that.
