The end of REM

BBC News - REM: The band that defined, then eclipsed college rock

REM have decided to call it a day after 31 years, I have to say I liked some of their stuff but didn't actually buy any of the albums

Re: The end of REM

They did some great songs, and were out there in a catagory on their own. Not easily fitting in with any other genre of music.

A friend at art school had meet them whilst she was in Georgia, when they'd just formed. When they came to Liverpool in the early eighties she took a few of us to see them, and they took us out to dinner afterwards.

They were very friendly, intelligent, and funny.

It was strange years later, remembering that the cult band we saw in Liverpool, was the same people who were now one of the biggest groups in the world.

Re: The end of REM

Their music was a little sombre for my tastes, although I could appreciate them.

I remember saying to my friend Gill, why couldn't she have become friends with the B-52's, who also came from Athens Georgia.

Another cult band, whose crazy madness mirrored my own tastes, and madness.

Re: The end of REM

automatic for the people was a great album and didnt they team up with the chick out of the b52's for shiny happy people?

wasnt a big fan but enjoyed quite a few of their songs such as whats the frequency Kenneth and many more

i thought they had split years ago though lol

Might like to re-think that last comment Jay, C'mon, as a raging red is probably well & truly paid up.

You do make inappropriate assumptions don't you.
I support no political party and vote for none of them.
I did pay union subs for the 35 years I worked.

In return - am I allowed to presume that you have nazi friends?
