Re: The Verve.......

Haven't got tickets but went to see Richard Ashcroft last year in Blackpool, he played some of the Verve tracks and was brilliant, well worth going to see.

Can't wait for the new album they're recording.
Gotta admit I never thought McCabe & Ashcroft would get together again

Re: The Verve.......

i doubt anyone will agree with me, but The Verve are the best band of all time

u are lucky to have seen them alive, thats one thing i have always dreamed about... but im happy they are back at least, hopefully they will release a new album next year, cant wait for that

Urban Hymns is in the top of any list i would make of best rock albums... A Northern Soul is also great, with some of they would do in UH (in songs like On Your Own and History), and a bit of what theyve done before in A Storm In Heaven (which is kinda of a shoegaze album, something i also love)

I'm going to see them on the 21st at Manc Central
Really hope they include my favourites in their set (Slide Away, This is Music, On Your Own, History, The Rolling People, Sonnet etc)
You reckon they'll do any Ashcroft solo stuff? Money To Burn or Science of Silence live would be class.

Re: The Verve.......

saw them in blackpool back in november and they were on top form (considering they were classed as warm up gigs) played a good selection of material, fan favorites, not just the hits and a good selection of storm in heaven tunes. brilliant. unfortunately no solo stuff even though some of it is absolute class.shame

and i dont think they will play Ashcroft solo stuff, ive downloaded the audio of one of their gigs since they came back and no solo songs were played... whats a shame, cause i also like his solo career

Re: The Verve.......

Went to see them at what was G-MEX last night.

It was without a doubt the best gig I have ever been to, or ever expect to attend.
I was worried The Verve would sound dated, but sounded better than they did way back when! Ashcroft takes the microphone with a re-found energy, and the whole band looked nothing short of electric throughout the entire set.

Me going mental to 'Velvet Morning', standing 15 feet away from Simon Jones going equally mental, is a memory I shan't be in a hurry to forget.

My favourite new-ish band The Coral were the supporting act and were very impressive as well.

Unbelievable gig
