Just for you Granny, yes I like him too......I was six the first time I heard this chap..........Enjoy.
Oh Rose Marie I love you
I'm always dreaming of you
No matter what I do I can't forget you
Sometimes I wish that I'd never met you
And yet if I should lose you
T'would mean my very life to me
Of all the queens that ever lived I'd choose you
To rule me my Rose Marie

Re: Ultimate poll - BEST SINGLE OF ALL TIME
Mr Harris, Mr Cashman Gentleman Both kind regards and thanks.
I would like to point out that the lyrics of the last song have nothing to do my feelings for my friend Mr Rindy…………

Nice point Cashman, One of the gifts of growing older is that you have time to enjoy music across the generations. In terms of Genre I can enjoy almost most forms of music with the same passion……

yeah great point cashman, but i suppose the only reason i go back to the past to find exciting music and inspiration for my own music, is that no current bands excite me as much as discovering old gems like rare Dylan songs or listening to covers by Cash.
Take the supposed 'biggest band in the world today' Coldplay; winning awards left, right and centre yet their new album just sounds bloated and empty in the sense that none of the tracks say anything to me.
Today i listened to The Smiths' debut album, now THAT spoke to me - i suppose its a relation to Morrisey/Marr's lyrics of growing up in the working class north, hmm...
But as soon as I find a new band to make me ask questions about myself and life i shall inform you all
...in response to your point Doug, i envy you!
i don't feel the same excitement/buzz from any other genre!! rock n roll is my life and i suppose always will be, although i do love to chill out to some Joni Mitchell, she hacks into your emotions brilliantly...anyone heard 'the urge for going' by her?
(please spare me the poo gags lol)

Re: Ultimate poll - BEST SINGLE OF ALL TIME
Best single.
Now that's a difficult one.
I love all the Beatle tunes.
Elvis
Cliff.
Think If I have to choose one it would be Old Shep by the King.

Re: Ultimate poll - BEST SINGLE OF ALL TIME
If I'd have been a teenager in the sixties, I would have been into the Stones rather than the Liverpudlian mop tops.
Much dirtier, a bit like me.

Re: Ultimate poll - BEST SINGLE OF ALL TIME
Take the ribbon from your hare.
Why would a hare be dressed in ribbons?
That shoud be outlawed.
