War of the Worlds

I first bought Jeff Waynes Musical version of War of the Worlds back in the 70's on two LP's, in the 80's I progressed to cassette tapes in the car.
Along came the 90's and I bought the 2 cd set, (digitally enhanced).

Today I have just been watching the updated 'live' version of the musical thanks to a pressie from my daughter on DVD it's taken nothing away from the original but made the whole experience worth going through again. If you haven't seen it yet get it as soon as you can you won't be disappointed.

I wonder what format I will be buying it in, when the next decade comes around?

Re: War of the Worlds

I could never get into the War of the Worlds thing. Quite a few friends say it’s excellent and have sat me down on more than one occasion to make me listen, just not my cuppa I guess, maybe just musically ignorant or summat.

As for the format you will be purchasing in 10 years, who knows, might be something you actually plug into yer head

Re: War of the Worlds

I love war of the worlds, especially on L.P but when i was a kid it scared the hell out of me!
I think i was about 6 when my dad first played it to me and for weeks afterwards i was convinced aliens were coming to take over the world!
I was 21 before i plucked up courage to listen to it again but am glad i did as i think it is a masterpiece!

Re: War of the Worlds

I bought it in the 70s when it came out. I remember the clubs played it time after time as a warm up unit things got daft, try dancing to forever autumn, Jesus, no wonder we looked like pilocks. I bought the CD version a year or two back. Still like it. I’ll give this new version a go when I see it.
