Thumbs up What A Classic!

Right, name one song that that you'd regard an as an absolute classic. Be it, the one that you hear on a CD or the radio and is still sounds as good as the first time you heard it. The one that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when you hear it or the one you regard a classic for sentimental reasons. Or one you just think has stood the test of time.

I'm going to go for ....... Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division .... for all the above reasons.

The Verve - Lucky Man

The song is about 10 years old now, but it can still gives me that uplifting feeling every single time I hear it - especially today because as soon as my radio alarm came on, Lucky Man started & put off the Sunday boredom! ...Well at least until the song finished

Perfect Day - Lou Reed.

We had it as the last song at our wedding because it was a perfect day (and we told the DJ that he was not going to be paid if he played New York, New York).

Farewell Is A Lonely Sound by Jimmy Ruffin, lingers in my memory to remind me of my first girlfriend (what a disaster that was) still we all live and learn.

My Way by Frank Sinatra is one of my all time favourites too but it always makes me cry.

It was one of my Grandfather's favourites and we played it at his funeral.

This is just too difficult there are so many it depends what mood I'm in so I've bottled what I'm really thinking and gone for The Jam - Going Underground.

Willy Mcbride by the Fureys, it`s about a young lad in WW1. Now i only know this song thanks to my tone deaf dad, but i`am sure some of you more mature members will of heard of it.

Yeah, I agree. No compilation of classic songs would be complete without that
