Re: What Ever Happened To

UK, celebs dont get into the news here unless they are really well known. What happened to, Kenny Ball, Georgie Fame, Chris Barbar, Terry Lightfoot, Murial Young, Pete Murry, Alan Freeman, David Symmonds ( fantastic, put kettle on mother ). Tony Blackburn, Tessa Wyatt, ( gorgeous ) and all those who were in those great comedy's, eg, Man about the house, On the buses, Robins nest. Seen, Una Stubbs and a few of the oldies latley guest spotting. I suppose a lot of them are no longer with us. Ronnie Barker, Max Bygreaves, Ronnie Corbitt,

Re: What Ever Happened To

With you their Alan. I use to love Tessa Wyatt, along with Hayley Mills and Lulu. What a childhood...eh. I remember Lulu's Lux Soap adverts use to drive my nine year old body demented..............She still can.

Re: What Ever Happened To

I've never heard of Frany and Tommy Franks. What did they do?

Tony Blackburn is still going strong, took a stand for playing Cliff Richard records on the radio not long ago, got his hand smacked by bosses but then they had to admit he was right because Cliff fans backed him up.

A couple of years ago he won "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here"

Last I heard of Alan Freeman he was quite ill. I'll come back on this if I remember/find out any more.

Re: What Ever Happened To

Atarah would know about Franny & Tommy Franks, I think the group they were in was the Sundowners. It would be great if Tommy put down some of his remenisanses on here. Remember Wee Willie Harris, Larry London, Rory Storm. Rocking Vicars, Dapers, Vikings, Lionel Morton, Baby Bob Harris. I think Tommy & Franny, did there apprenticship at the NORI, as blacksmiths.

Tommy Franks still does gigs at local clubs, and every year appears at Sydney Street Club on New Year's Day afternoon.

Franny Franks does a bit of scouting for Oldham football club I believe

Re: What Ever Happened To

Tommy Franks was on Radio Lancashire earlier this morning, he was interviewed about a song he wrote a few years back about the Accrington Pals.

Hi All Tommy Franks is indeed still going strong he did a gig at Sydney Street WM Club a couple of weeks ago, and is still as good as ever and packs em in!. He also did a "guest" spot with "Wammy" (Dave Walmesley), at the oakleigh club the week after.

Re: What Ever Happened To Tommy Franks

Was talking to Tommy 2 weeks ago in Dog and Partridge Baxenden. He is appearing at the Alma in Baxenden on New Years Eve. He also lent us a copy of a demo cd he has, on which he sings a variety of songs including one he himself wrote called "Accrington Pals", its a very moving tribute which he did some years ago now!. :engsmil:
