What was the first record you bought?
What was the first record you bought with your own money?
Mine was Another Brick in the Wall (Part II) by Pink Floyd. I bought it from Mary's Music on Whalley Road back in December 1979.
Two days later, I was back in there to buy Diamond Smiles by the Boomtown Rats.

Re: What was the first record you bought?
Top thread..... Some of our younger members probably won't know what 45's are....
As posted in another thread mine was Visage Fade to Grey, it got plenty of airplay. Unsurprisingly, Steve Strange can't sing to save his life and Visage were total rubbish in concert..... Looks like prison was the best place for him really...

Re: What was the first record you bought?
It was either Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival or Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan. I bought it at Wiseman's I think it was called. The shop was above what is now Gibson's Sports on Broadway. You could buy LPs and pay so much a week til they were paid for. Can you do that these days with CDs? They're expensive enough.

Can't remember the name but it would have been Brian Ferry.

Re: What was the first record you bought?
First single, on a 78! "Diana" - Paul Anka. That was probably around 1957 at a guess.
First LP, "Songs for Swingin' Lovers" - Frank Sinatra, still my all-time favourite singer.
Both records played grooveless on my red and grey Dansette Junior. Remember those you old timers?

Not 100% sure but I think it was Goody Two Shoes - Adam and the Ants, bought from Mary's Music, that was a brill shop.

Re: What was the first record you bought?
The first record I bought was Ottawan - Hands Up, I'm not sure how old I was but I bought it second hand from the car boot sale that used to be held next to Spring Hill School.. About Mary's Music, I did my work experience there and worked there for 3 years afterwards, it certainly was a great shop!

Re: What was the first record you bought?
Roy bought me Jason & Kylies Especially for You for my birthday when I was about 8/9. He thought I really liked it cos me & my cousin kept playing it over & over on the juke box at a family do - but really we only did it cos I knew he hated it!!! (Don't think he knew that til now)!
Think the first album I bought myself was East 17's Walthomstow - still got it somewhere!!! It's very poor!
