Which songs bring back memories.

Was wondering which records bring back memories for people, of a certain time in your life because you were having fun, a love connection, a sad time. Which music makes you weep when you hear it again...or makes you go all fuzzy.

Some of mine.

Smile, (written by C haplin)because it reminds me of my gran.

From my youth, and also because they just seem to have that nostalgic thing
The onion song
Young gifted and black

Here comes my baby, (Tremeloes)
Wild thing, Love is all around(Troggs)
Coz had crushes on the lead singers of those groups, lol

Band of Gold (Freda Payne) Dancing at the Golden Palms

I will survive, (Gloria Gaynor)for the usual reason! Shedding unwanted baggage.

Do you really want to hurt me (culture club) Start of a new me.

True love ways always makes me feel slightly sad.

Oh, too many to mention, but two that really take me right back to a warm and happy place are 'Blow the Wind Southerly' - Kathleen Ferrier, and 'La Vie en Rose' - Grace Jones.

Sometimes a song, just as a smell can, takes you right back through time.

Bloomin heck, Kathleen ferrier, remember having a lesson about her at school and how she came from a poor family, and how her mother patched up her school uniform...don't know why that bit sticks in my mind lol!

She was a Lancashire lass wasn't she?

...as Cashy said yes she was. She worked at the G.P.O. in Blackburn, before beginning a short but glittering and critically acclaimed singing career, and was arguably the finest contralto voice ever to have been recorded.

Re: Which songs bring back memories.

How long have we got? There has always been music in my life and most of it has memories. I really could make a list longer than your arm and mine put together so just a few here.

Grieg, Chopin and Dvorak, George Gershwin, Gilbert and Sullivan, 1920s dance bands, Paul Robeson, Gracie Fields and George Formby, these are all childhood memories. Glenn Miller Orchestra, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Guy Mitchell, Little Richard, all my teenage years. The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Frankie Vallee, I'm a young wife and mum.

There are so many more and I'm still playing most of them. Every one has a memory and an awful lot can make me cry.
