Thanks much for any advice!
There is a new Lloyd Weber production of the Sound of Music.

It's star, Connie Fisher, who won the Maria role as part of a television reality programme. Much to everyone's amazement the critics have lavished praise on her and the production.

Tickets are like gold dust, but it might be worth trying for returns.

Me too.

I saw Jane Horrocks and Alan Cummings in a Sam Mendes production of Cabaret. Fantastic.

I absolutely love Les Miserables, have seen it 3 times at the theatre - the music and the story is beautiful and I never leave with dry eyes! Also love Evita, watched the film and thought Madonna was fantastic. Phantom is also a fave of mine.

Re: You favourite musical

I enjoyed the Moggy thing, but I'm a little backward with musicals so it's hard to comment. Maybe I should get out more....

Oh, I also remember the Rocky Horror thing, but I gobbled my Bounty before the curtain went up.

Carousel......I just love the story and the songs are lovely, melodic and full of emotion.....I know it's an old one......and maybe I'm getting soft in my old age...but it always leaves me with a lump in my throat.

I saw Chicago in Melbourne...paid a fortune for tickets as it was in it's last week of showing there......and HATED it.

Re: You favourite musical

my vote for best live show goes to either 'Mama Mia' or the Donny Osmond thing ' Joseph and amazing technicolor dreamcoat' ,

Not sure if this counts as a musical since there is no singing just great dancing was 'Tango Argentina'

the absolute worst live musical ever was a pre Broadway run a couple of years ago of 'Some like it Hot' with a 70 odd year old Tony Curtis, the theatre emptied out at half time, the few of us who went back only returned to see if it could get any worse ....it did .
