What kind of musical? Broadway or adapted for TV ...... Oh I'll answer both
Broadway ...... Miss Saigon with a close 2nd being West Side Story.
TV musical ...... Chicago, because Richard Gere is in it

Re: You favourite musical
Chicago. I adore it.
I was lucky enough to go to the first night of this current West End production of it, with Ruthie Henshall, the divine Ute Lemper, and Nigel Planner. I saw it three more times with different casts, each time wonderfully sexy.
I recommended it to my old boss, to take his wife for her birthday, and they hated it. Philistines!

Love Chicago. The Producers is hilarious (Peter Kay is in the version thats coming to Manchester, playing Roger DeBris. I can't wait to see that!!) The Lion King, Joseph, Cats, Le Mis.......
I really could go on. Love all musicals.

Re: You favourite musical
Quadrophenia.
It's not typically a musical.
But I don't care.

Re: You favourite musical
My favourite is 'Fiddler on the Roof' .. love every song, particularly 'Sunrise, Sunset' and the all the libretto that goes with it. Like 'Phantom' too, but not the music, just for the spectical, which is what it is really .. unless you have millions of pounds to spend on staging and effects, forget it !
Ok .. 'Grease' is great too and 'Little Shop of Horrors' .. great fun.
Would go and watch any professional musical now (produced in the U.K. of course, 'cause we do it best) as the talent amongst the performers is absolutely outstanding. X-Factor/Pop Star wannabee's go and watch some of these performers .. you might learn plenty.

Re: You favourite musical
I've got a lot of favorites (performed in a lot of them, too!)
Guys and Dolls
The Music Man
Showboat
Kiss Me Kate
The Light in the Piazza
Peter Pan
Man of La Mancha
City of Angels
Also love G&S - my "niece" (actually, my best friend's daughter) just was cast as Elsie in an upcoming production of Yeoman of the Guard in New York City. With a bit of luck, she will make a career in opera.

Re: You favourite musical
Speaking of musicals, anyone have recommendations for which ones I should se in London?
Already saw The Producers, Mary Poppins, Blood Brothers, Les Miz, Avenue Q and Phantom of the Opera.
Thanks much for any advice!

Seen both the move and the stage version. A college acquaintance, David-James Carroll, originated the role of Adam on Broadway. Thanks for the suggestion, grannyclaret!
