Just been listening to talkSPORT on the way home and they were discussing a proposal for lower leagues - everybody apart from Premier Łeague - to move kick off times from 15:00, to 13:00 to save money on gas and electric!!
Floodlights and heating are the two main savings for Clubs - it was mentioned.
I suppose early season does not matter - but once the clocks change - winter/mid. season is a different matter.
They mentioned the affect it could have on supporters who travel to games and that it could stop some people going to games.
Living in Accrington and getting to the games is not an issue, but for supporters who get on a train at 10:30, or jump in the car at 12:00, it will make a difference...
They did also talk about P.L. distributing more money down the pyramid...........
According to Andy Holt it won't be happening at the Wham looking at all other options to save money on energy bills , should imagine all the new builds are upto date with new energy saving gizmo,s and some clubs apparently discussing solar panels and others have moved to led bulbs in the floodlights much more energy efficient than standard bulbs.
It seems a sensible idea but, as Chimer suggests, will thus not get much support.
I love the irony that one of worst grounds for inadequate floodlighting is that bastion of green-posturing, FGR. Or maybe it was just that the wind wasn’t blowing enough when Stanley were there recently?
