19 to viginti
SEASON 19....
And so it shall come to pass, that the Mighty Stanley will be embarking on their 19th Football League expedition shortly.... not many of us thought that would happen - truly
Some good work done in securing the likes of Connor and Alex, plus keeping hold of the experienced Seamus and Shaun, but - at the same time - losing some experience in Sean and goals in Jack and Tommy were not so great - some will feel.....
Nevertheless, we kickoff our campaign away at Doncaster and at home to Harrogate - an away tie at Tranmere in the League Cup sandwiched in between
One thing we are going to have to get used to is early kick off times and Monday night games Etc. courtesy of $ky........ here to stay I fear....
We have the boys from Boston up front, also the return of an old face in defence, plus some other young, keen lads from Non-League....
As always I imagine it will be a struggle, but it is nothing we have not faced - and triumphed over - before
Where will we finish???? Who will shine??? How bumpy will the ride be????

Re: 19 to viginti
First up a tough away trip to Donny.
A good team, who had a great finish to last season and benefited from additions such as Billy Sharp
Great to see a lad making his debut and scoring - I like the look of Tyler Walton
ONLY 17 more wins and we will be safe

Re: 19 to viginti
First point on the board, with the 3-3 draw at home to Harrogate
Poor first half, with some shocking defending.
Little better second half, though poor defending cost us the win
Tyler F***ing Walton is the find of the season
16 wins, plus a draw to go

Re: 19 to viginti
Bad result in Wales, though the statistics - apart from the main one - showed otherwise.....
Plenty of chances created and plenty of promise, just the end product required
Lots of new faces, will need time to gel
Still 16 wins required, let us hope it is just 15 on Sunday morning

Re: 19 to viginti
Still 16 wins, though a point nearer
I think that a draw was fair - yes Shaun could have won it (twice) a the end, but a point each was fair.
Shaun, Seamus and Walton were the pick of the bunch - were need a new Seamus soon - Kelly had his best game and the lads from Blackburn and Burnley looked good for the few minutes they were on the pitch
Next up Notts. County who have not lost - we have not won - let us hope that changes

Re: 19 to viginti
Strange trip away to Notts. County, some sickness in the camp, meaning a few newish faces
In the cold light of day, losing 2-0 to a team as big as them is not going to define us
Players like McGoldrick - even approaching 37 - are well above this level
At the start of the season, I was worried about Kelly, but he kept us in the game and the score respectable - well done
It goes without saying that I need us to win the next two home games more that Stanley do
Still 16 wins required, though it will soon be 14

Re: 19 to viginti
Taken me this long, as I was trying to think of some positives.....
Poo(r) game, between two not good teams - how have The Alex won 3 on the spin
After 30 minutes, could not see anything other than 0-0 (which would have been fair)
Have to say that I did not see the goal fully - but after watching on the TV - although the defending was poor, it was a scrappy goal, which on another day does not get scored......
Seamus and Shaun apart, some poor/bad performances...
STILL ONLY 16 WINS REQUIRED
Starting with a home win against Vale on Saturday

Re: 19 to viginti
I started with 17 wins to go, we have not won any and it is now 16
Anyway, 16 wins still required and in all honesty, it should be 15....
Very good performance, which would have resulted in a win, if we were still not searching for our first - make sense??
The change in system worked well I thought and when Tyler is back, it will be even better (must find a way of getting Dan Martin into the team!!)
Batty and Love were my stand outs, but as my good friend choirboy said to me when asked "every Stanley player were M.O.M.!"
Players like Stockley are great at this level and will cause most teams problems.
It felt like a loss when the whistle blew, but it is another point, which could be vital come May
Wombles (maybe) next, we will win games playing like that
Come on Stanley

Re: 19 to viginti
Not the greatest of games between - another - two poor sides...
Regardless, we took the lead through a very good goal from Elvis
Minimum expectation after that is a point - not to be..
Their first goal was about luck and they got a barrow load of it, also the lad stuck to his task
The winner was a flying header from way back when and on another day, when things are going for you is chalked off
New keeper did well I thought
We will win one day and then it will be down to 15, but at the moment......... 16 more wins required
UP THE REDS

Re: 19 to viginti
The result was key
Average display in the main, lovely free kick from Morecambe was the best thing football wise
But, thanks to a cool head from Elvis - twice - we secured the win, which we deserved...just about
The Clayton End was bouncing and this contributed to the result
Special mention for young Aljofree, grew into the game, contributed to the second goal and spoke well after the game - Utd have let their best defender out on loan
JUST 15 MORE WINS REQUIRED
RED AND WHITE ARMY!!!

Re: 19 to viginti
Hi Val...I normally agree with you on most things. But surely the best thing about the game was the attacking move and finish by Costello for the second goal....I thought our keeper could have done better saving the free kick and our wall wasn't solid either nor did they jump to stop the ball.....

Do not think many keepers would have saved that C.G.
Our second was good, but I think their free kick was better - all about opinions, but we both agree that the win was most important

Without a doubt the win was most important.
