1916 Broadley

I found something from the Accrington Observer of 1916 on line which said there was a Broadley who played for Accrington Stanley. Does anyone know any more about him? thanks, Marie Ball

Re: 1916 Broadley

There is no Broadley mentioned in 'Accrington Stanley; a complete record 1894-1962' by Jackman & Dykes. I will have a look at my other football books for any Broadleys.

Re: 1916 Broadley

1914-15 was the last competitive season of (Central League) football before war broke out. Stanley still played on the following season in the Lancashire Combination before packing in until 1919 when peace had broken out. There are no chartered records of the players from that season as far as I can find.

Re: 1916 Broadley

Thank you for your replies. It was only an abbreviation of the article on "Newspaper Detectives", so perhaps it meant something else, Marie Ball
