2013 Prediction League; Game 28 v Bury FC (home)
2013/14 Prediction League – Game 28; v Bury (home)
26th September 2012; Kevin Blackwell appointed manager of Bury, then bottom of League One; he started with a 2-2 draw at Stevenage, then a 1-0 home defeat to Swindon (who’ve just signed Michael Smith from Charlton – as in “first half hat-trick when we beat Gillingham 4-3 in Leam’s first game as Manager ”); Blackwell does much for inter-squad relations by branding some of the team as “Garbage” ……….perhaps not wholly surprisingly Bury – in financial problems – are relegated; Our Kev does the big clear-out, signing instead most of the male population of Heywood and Middleton who had two legs and a pulse (well, 21 or so anyway) ………. Inevitably it’s a dog’s breakfast , and Blackwell departs on 14th October………In on 9th December, comes recently-sacked Barnsley Manager David Flitcroft instead , who clears five out and brings in 5 new defenders ….Groundhog Day ……..Who ya’ gonna call, Ghostbusters?
More particularly, out went striker Marlon Jackson (ex Bristol City and Hereford), who played two games and scored once (against us! ), to FC Halifax Town; Euan Holden caught the same taxi away from Gigg Lane, as did Blackwell’s skipper Gareth Roberts (35), a Welsh International defender who’s graced the pitches of Liverpool, Panionios, Tranmere, Doncaster and Derby; all three of them were signed in the summer; Jessy Yapo Reindeer (sorry, Reindorf), 22 year-old French-born Rwandan international whose former clubs include Comaccio Lidi (Italy), CA Paris-Charenton (France) and Union Royale Namur (Belgium) (who managed twice as many games as Jackson, and the same goal return ); and striker Shaun Harrad – 29, Notts Co, Northampton. Burton and Bury (plus Rotherham and Cheltenham on loan ) – who joined Alfreton Town. The Famous Five defenders are James Burke (19, Huddersfield); Frederic Veseli (21, on loan from Ipswich – he having played for Man City and Man U (no wonder he buggered off to Suffolk ) – who 's 20, and a Swiss u21 international; Rotherham, Derby, Crawley and Macclesfield’s Pablo Mills; Huddersfield’s Robbie McIntyre (19, FB); and Barnsley’s Jim McNulty (28), who previously played for Flitcroft at ……………..erm …………….. Barnsley. Daniel Nardiello’s loan from the Millers has been extended to the end of the season, as has 38 year-old GK Brian Jensen’s contract ………. Anton Forrester, a loan striker from Blackburn ……….Thomas Cobley ……………
Despite being 19th (to our 18th), they’ve actually scored as many points in their last ten games (14) as they did in their first 16 (14); their last 10 matches shows 3 wins, 5 draws and two defeats ………overall, P26 W6 D10 L10 F30 A34 for 28 points …………..really curiously, the GDs of the other two sides also on 28 points (Wycombe and Pompey) are 30 – 34 and 30 – 39 ………..Having done Crewe 3-2 in the Capital One (good penalties by Man U last night ….! ) they then went to Norwich – a game I called “eminently loseable” – in Round Two, and eminently lost (6-3) ……The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy First Round match at Port Vale went TU (2-1), and the First Round of the FA Cup went Bigger TU, 2-1 at Cambridge after a goalless home tie
Their away form is pants; W2 (3-0 at Hartlepool and 2-1 at Wycombe), D 3 (2-2 at Exeter and Burton, and 1-1 at Brizzle) and L7 – most recently 4-0 at Chesterfield (who seem to be sliding down the table; perhaps it’s time for a change of Manager? ) ………..Including Cup games, P31, goals scored 38 (6 of those in the League Cup) ………..Leading scorers are Blackburn’s 20 year-old striker Anton Forrester with 6, Daniel Nardiello (despite not being recorded on the Player Stats on their website) has 5, and defender Nathan Cameron (22), once of Coventry, and once on loan at Northampton, with 4 ………. 3 others have 3 each, three have 2 each, and two have one each …………….Who got the other six I haven’t a clue ……………….
Head to head favours them; including the early-season loss 3-0 at theirs, it’s P11 W2 D2 L7 F10 A20 …………..and that’s not pretty! Nor, if you believe Flitcroft, is the football played in League Two
- "I would never resort to some of the football I see in this league, just smashing the ball up field” he told Radio Manchester "It’s almost rugby and something I will never commit to."
Almost rugby ? Work that one out if you can …………………No wonder Barnsley sacked him!
The deadline for entries is, as always, scheduled kick-off time, which is 3.00pm on Saturday 25th January 2014 …………..Win this one and there’s a bit of Clear Blue Water (they’re having a Revival Tour soon, apparently ) between us and the dross ……………… Moly back home? 5-0 for sure ………….Eh Wynonie?
Good luck to everyone ……………….Remember; passion overcomes logic ………Keep the Faith! .................. And thanks for playing!

Expecting a tight game tomorrow, be surprised if we don't at least come away with a point. I'll go for 2-1 Bury, Nardiello and Grimes.

on paper that looks a very strong attacking line up
plus the option of bringing on Big Clive towards the end of the match if things not going to plan.
but don't get to excited, our form is much improved since we met at Gigg in August
Stanley 3 Bury 2 please
