2014/15 Prediction League - Game 41 v Carlisle United (home)
Accrington Stanley
V
Carlisle United
2014/15 Prediction League; Game 41 v Carlisle (home)
“The first-half was dreadful. It was awful. They were better than us at being awful in the first half.”
No, not Cashy’s assessment of any of our last 8 games (none of which we’ve won ); nor Mr Coleman’s discussion of the Morecambe match with their Goalkeeping Coach, which gave him a much better – if more distant – view of the latter stages of the game .......actually, it was Wombles’ Manager Neal Ardley on his side letting slip a two-goal lead to the Cobblers, for whom James Gray (remember him? ) scored two in three minutes .............might be worth scouting him, Mr Coleman – he’s scored as many for them in two games as the whole of our recognised strike force has managed in the last 10 ; could be a good signing .....oh, hang on, he’s under contract to ....erm .............us. Isn’t he!
Speaking of contracts, Carlisle have lashed a few out in the transfer window; ProperSigned Blyth Spartan’s ex MonkeyHanger defender Nathan Buddle (21), Middlesbrough’s striker Charlie Wyke (22), who hasn’t played for Brough, but has been on loan at Wimbledon and Hartlepool (so he’s been a MonkeyHanger and a Womble in the same season ), and Shrewsbury’s ex Valiant MF Anthony Griffith (28), who signed at the Greenhous in the summer and played 3 minutes over 2 ½ games before he left .......Tom Aldred wasn’t in the Blackpool squad today, by the way; not suspended again is he? They’ve also LoanSigned Owls’ def Matt Young (20, once of Southampton) and their 24-year old RofI u21 MF Paul Corry, plus David Atkinson (21, Middlesbrough), Brighton winger Jeffrey Monakana (21), who played 50 games for PNE, and Bradford’s ex Middlesbrough (this is getting a touch incestuous, don’t you think? ), Darlington and Rochdale MF Jason Kennedy (28). Eight signings in three months does sound a touch desperate, perhaps? Haven't counted how many we've signed, mind you ....
Their current position is P40 W12 D6 L22 F48 A66 for 42 points and 21st place ...... There’s only one other team which has conceded 66 goals in League Two this season (anybody want to hazard a guess? .....Yes, it’s us! ), but 11 teams who have hit less than 48, including Southend and Plymouth (46 each), both of whom are in the Playoff spots .......42 points has them 2 points above Hartlepool (13 points from their last 5 games), 3 above Tranmere, and five above Cheltenham; their last 13 League games have shown 4 draws, 8 defeats, and just the one win (2-0 at Tranmere) .
Out of interest, and bearing in mind “how many games a Manager should get before he falls on his sword” – as promulgated on here for all of our last three Managers - I’ve checked our last 20 League games; 4 wins – all bar one in 15 days between 10th and 24th February (Oxford 1-0, Burton 1-0 and away at Exeter and at Southend, both 2-1), 6 draws and 10 losses .............18 points in 20 games ; if we carry that form through to next season, we’ll total 41 points .........Just thought I’d mention it!
This is the time of the year that you look at the run-in, if you think you’re in trouble .........Cheltenham play Stevenage (8th), Cambridge (17th) and Shrewsbury (2nd) at home, and Wycombe (3rd), Northampton (11th) and the Wombles (12th) away; Hartlepool have Southend (5th), the Stanley (17th) and Exeter (10th) at home, and York (20th), Luton (9th, but with 9 defeats in their last 10) and Carlisle (21st) away; Tranmere have Luton (see above), Oxford (15th) and 4th placed Bury at home, and Southend (5th), Mansfield (18th) and Plymouth (7th) away; and Carlisle play us (see above), the Daggers (16th), Plymouth (7th) and Hartlepool (22nd) at home, and Burton (1st) and Stevenage (8th) away .....the form team (Hartlepool) look to have the best run-in .......Cheltenham 37 points, Tranmere 39, Hartlepool 40 and Carlisle 42 ......points in the bag, at this point surely ; you’d guess, perhaps, Cheltenham and Tranmere ......? Barnet still top of the Conference, by the way – 1 point from Brizzle Rovers, with Grimsby, Macclesfield and Woking in the Play off spots (but Eastleigh have a game in hand)
Leading goal scorers are mainly midfielders; local lad Kyle Dempsey (MF) has 9, even localler lad Brad Potts (MF) has 8, ex Penrith MF Steve Rigg has 5, and ex Milwall and Liverpool striker David Amoo has 5 as well ......so has James Gray , plus three more for the Cobblers .........!
Deadline for entries is, as always, scheduled kick-off time, which is 3.00pm on Easter Monday, 6th April .......which is the start of the new Tax Year ........for those who have been paid recently .... And the rest, as they say, is for the Birds .......make up your own minds; about our form, our squad, our loans and departures, our tactics and our future ..........
Good luck to everyone ...........Keep the Faith and buy a Brick ........and thanks for playing!

Re: 2014/15 Prediction League - Game 41 v Carlisle United (home)
Gonna be a tough game, just hope it's a better spectacle than the reverse fixture back in November - it certainly can't be any worse.
I'm hoping for 3 points as always but gonna go for a 2 - 2 on this one please
