Sunny but windy day in Brizzle, rugby surface, up and unders from The Gas....3-1 to them, I regret.

LongLostGoalScorer Takes LongLostSon To The Top Of The Heap

Well I thought 20 optimists , 10 pessimists and 15 fence-sitters was perhaps stretching keeping the faith a bit (even though I was amongst the optimists) but no, keeping the faith brought its rewards this week . 6 maximum 5s went to DaveinGermany, LongLostSon, MikeA, Ossy Kid, Sparkie and Tom D, 6 more got 3 plus 1 bonus point for Jason’s clean sheet, leaving 8 to settle for just the basic 3 for the win. 19 of the pessimists and fence-sitters 25 got 1 BP, mostly for Billy’s bicicle kick.

Please note I do know how to spell bicycle but when combined with kick Accyweb insists on putting in a shopping link!!

This all takes LongLostSon to the top of our table with 22 points, 1 clear of last week’s leader Norwich Stanley, and MikeA up to 3rd, 2 points further back and ahead of Outback Ozzy on countback.

A little bit of trivia – no-one in League 2 has scored less goals than us, only Brizzle (15th), Crawley (19th) and Newport (24th) with as few as our 5, and no-one in League 2 has conceded less goals than us, only Wycombe (4th) level with as few as our 4. It follows that if you’ve watched every minute of every League game so far, you will have seen fewer goals (9) than an equally daft supporter of any other team. Gas fans are the next most deprived (11), but less happy as their goal difference is -1 against our +1.

So Roll on Eggsaccyter -let's hope two encouraging away performances which might prompt a few walk-ons aren't followed by a dire home showing , which has been something of a pattern in the past .

On Stanley On!!
