2017/18 Prediction League; Game 21 v Swindon (home) ..........................Update
Can you believe it’s two months since our original fixture chez nous was postponed? Hand’s up if you think that’s a DISGRACE!
Ten League games since then; Swindon have won six, drawn one and lost three of those ten, and are currently 7th in League Two, with 51 points from 30 games ........... the losses were 3-2 at home to Colchester (who’ve found a bit of form again), 5-0 at home to Luton (who fluked Saturday’s win with an enormous deflection for their goal) and 3-1 at Coventry, who were done over by Vegan Greenpeace .............. Lincoln did Swindon for the equaliser in the 3rd minute of “time added on” (
FergieTime), Crawley did Chesterfield in the 3rd minute of
FergieTime as well, with a
Lewis Young winner, and Wycombe – now 5 and 0 for their last five – scored in the 3rd
and the 6th minutes of their
FergieTime to beat Carlisle 4-3 ............ at least
Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!
Mind you, they do say that it ain’t over until the
Fat Bastard sings, which was proven once again ................ and I don’t know about Groundhog Day (which was a common description of our “Two goals down at home,
McMarmite/BillyWhizz/ McMarmite 3-2 win” against Stevenage (who are still trying to work out how they lost) as – I suspect – are Portly Vale, who were so traumatised that they haven’t won since; mind you, they hadn’t won before either .... D3 L2 of five ................... 4 wins in 5 is still us, Mansfield and Crawley ............ Cambridge, Barnet and Grimsby have 2 points from 5 games, Crewe have 1 win and four defeats (3 points), and Morecambe share PV’s record, and also have 3 points ...... Tough at the top – but it’s tougher at the bottom!
The bad news is Swindon’s away record, which reads P15 W10 D1 L4 GF 28 GA15 and 31 points gained ................. at home, it’s W6 D2 L7 ....................should we ask to play the game at their place, does anyone think? Cos my heart isn’t going to take another 3-2 win from 2-0 down! Although we do have three players in the top 15 on the “Leading Goal Scorers’ List” for Div 2 –
Billy Whizz with 17, and
Kayden J and
Sean McM with 10 each!
Transfer window brought Swindon CF
Marc Richards from the Cobblers,
Keshi Anderson (that’s a name?
Keshi?) from the Palace (Crystal, not Buckingham) for £undisclosed, and Barrow’s GK
Stuart Moore, plus AMF
Ollie Banks on loan from Oldham and Welsh CB
Rollin Menayese (which name you have to read very carefully and more than once to get it right) from BrizzleRov;
Rollin was actually born in Kinshasa in the DR of Congo, apparently ...........not a lot of Welshmen are born in Kinshasa, isn’t it. Look you. Eisteddfod!
Deadline for entries (or amended entries) is scheduled kick-off time, which is 7.45pm on Tuesday 6th February ............. for all their astonishingly good away record, they’ve lost one and drawn one of their last five games in the League. Leading scorers are
Luke Norris with 12 (11 in the League),
Paul Mullin with 7 (3 in the League), and Slovenian
Timi Elsnik with 5 (3) ........... and next on the list is
Amine Linganzi ............remember him? We last met in 2011/12 – the year they went up to League One, before they slid back down the Greasy Pole of Oblivion last summer; in 2011/12 they won 2-0 at our place, and 2-0 at their place as well; time that the boots were placed on the other feets, don’t we think?
Good luck to everyone! ............. Keep the Faith (and the smelling salts nearby!) ........... And thanks for playing!
