Wild Optimism Brings Little Change - Kiwi Takes One For The Team
We really didn't give Crewe enough respect, did we? Kiwi John's 1-1 prediction was the only deviation from an otherwise 100% vote for success, in many cases by ridiculous margins
. And reading between the lines it seems clear that if he hadn't gone for 1-1, it would have jolly well been 1-1 at best
, with our second place hanging on goal difference once again
.
But as we know, Kayden came through
and the banana skin was avoided, so everyone north of the equator picked up at least 3 points
, those with faith in Aaron 4
, and only AccyBeMe picking up a maxi
by showing a modicum of realism regarding the number of goals we'd score. For which he was justly rewarded
by staying put in 17th place
, though he's now two points ahead of me instead of just the one
.
In fact there were only 2 positional changes in the entire table. One up top, where Outback Ozzy (4 pts) took over from Mab (3) in 2nd, 2 points behind Tom D (4). And further down Football19 and Revived Red taking 4 moved them both past 3-point Tommy McQueen, who dropped from 20th to 22nd. Otherwise, it was just a case of gaps opening or closing by the odd point.
So now we roll on down to meet the Bees, holding a 4-1 aggregate lead from the game at the Crown in October. That ought to be safe
, but it would be nice
to double it, wouldn't it? Are our banana skin days behind us? Can we win 5 on the trot - for the first time since promotion? Our current 8 wins out of 9 is a best, but our best unbeaten run, amazingly, is 15
last season. To do that again might just seal it ..... perhaps to be revisited after Luton away!
On Stanley On!!
