Re: 2018/19 Prediction League; Game 30 v Blackpool (home)

Well that's a strange starting line up ........ more questions than answers.
5-4-1 at home ?

Re: 2018/19 Prediction League; Game 30 v Blackpool (home)

Do We Think It's All Over? 17 Points Clear ….

Well, my little absence from the country seemed to inspire the Reds to begin with , but unfortunately the effect faded rather quickly . Anyway, it’s catchup time now.

To begin at the beginning, we were nearly unanimous about beating Oxford, 21 going for the win and only 2 left on the fence. But hardly anyone took any bonus points. Kiwi John got one for predicting the unlikely four for the Stanley, thereby temporarily reducing Lord Stiffupperlip’s lead at the top from 9 points to 8, and Wynonie Harris scooped the pool with a maxi , leaping from 26th to 19th. The only other moves were falls for the drawmongers and those who, like me , failed to enter.

The win against Oxford didn’t result in everyone getting carried away for the Southend game, with 5 of you sitting this one out on the fence, and profiting thereby. Maxis came for Lord S, now moving to 12 points clear at the top, and Football19, dramatically up from 10th to 3rd. 3 points for Accytom18 (8= to 6=), LongLostSon (25th to 21st) and Taypot (22nd to 19th, after a rare blank against Oxford halted his charge temporarily). Odd bonus points for some of the rest, with no great effect on the table.

Speaking of Taypot’s charge brings us neatly to Coventry, where he was the only player to predict a sky blue win , albeit getting the score completely wrong for once and only gaining a single place as a result. Around half of the rest of us got a point for their goal – Accytom18 and Mab were among those who did, moving from joint 6th to joint 4th, overtaking Ossy Kid and Cashman, who were among those who didn’t.

And finally the Blackpool game, where for the first time for a while people had the temerity to forecast a Stanley loss – and were, regrettably, right to do so . And as they included Lord S, who only went and got a maxi while Kiwi fired a blank, the gap at the top is now 17 points. The other naysayers were Accybeme with 3 points, moving from 25th to 20th, and (surprise, surprise) Taypot with 4, up another couple of places to 16th. Once again, around half of the rest of you got a single bonus point, Accytom18’s taking him onto the podium in 3rd place and Div3 North’s moving him up to 6th, pushing past Ossy Kid and Cashman.

We have to welcome StanleyJosh to the game as our 39th player, making an immediate impact by entering the table at 37th= by taking a point from the Blackpool game. And I’m wondering if we’ve somehow upset DaveinGermany , who hasn’t posted a prediction since Feb 1st, but is still contributing to Accyweb in other areas.

So, roll on the high-flying Tykes. We seem to be reserving our better efforts for better opposition , so let’s hope we provide a little surprise on Saturday. It would be very very welcome ….

On Stanley On!!

No my friend you & the rest of the fine folks here haven't upset me, it's more a personal choice due to other matters in my life at present.
