Re: 2020/21 Prediction League; Game 1 v Peterborough Utd (home)

Stanley, Ossy Kid and Tom D hit the ground running

Well I don't know ...... we have a pretty carp pre-season, get knocked out of the Caraboa, and a 7-0 win against Leeds Schoolboys is enough to persuade 11 of you to think we can beat nailed-on promotion favourites Posh Peterborough and their charismatic manager Mr Fry in the first league game. If ever there was a case of cock-eyed early season optimism this was surely it . I still can't believe you were right ........

Maximum 5 points go to Ossy Kid and Tom D for their spot-on predictions, leaving them sharing top spot on the podium with a flying start in the race for riches , prizes and kudos that await the winner of the Prediction League. Oh, sorry, got carried away there, delete the bit about riches and prizes

6 other optimists added a bonus point for either "Stanley 2" (AccyTom18, Cashman, Choirboy and Mab) or "Posh 0" (Div3North and StanleyJosh), so the podium needs to be relay-sized for them all to share the 3rd step. Which left Accymad, Outback Ozzy and the Red Darreners with the basic 3 points for getting it right, and the rest of us scratching about hoping for a bonus point of some sort, despite getting it wrong.

As usual, I won't be publishing a table until we are at least 4 or 5 games into the season, as it becomes harder to add new players after that, and I'm hoping we may bring a few more people onboard over the next few weeks.

So it's roll on Burton and a chance for early revenge for the Caraboa defeat. Will those newly discovered shooting boots work away from home? Of course they will .... if we keep the faith and remain cock-eyed!

On Stanley On!!

Technically, isn’t that nice Mr Fry the Director of Football? Darren Hairdryer came back in early 2019, and I can’t see he’s left again. Yet

Probably - don't hold with these new-fangled titles, meself. Just heard him gobbing off about how good they were going to be , and made a false assumption
