Big Gains For Fortunate Three
We welcomed the return of the Shrimps to the Crown, assuming (most of us, wrongly
) that they would bring their usual 3-point present with them. And we welcome the return of Morecambe Red to our game, providing the one voice that thought (wrongly
) that the wrong Reds might triumph.
Just three of you had sufficient reservations
to climb on to the fence for this one, and all of you chose the right height of fence. So five-point maxis
and progress up the table for Monkey Hanger (7th to 4th), Lord Stiffupperlip (11th to 8th) and Watchdog (19th to 15th). One point
at most for everybody else, which at least was enough for M Red to double his points tally
in 30th and last place.
The single point was enough for Cashman to join Mike A and Shurm on top of the heap with 59 points, with Mike A hanging on to top spot and Shurm slipping to third on countback. Stiffy's place at the top table came at the expense of Long Lost Son, and there were a couple of swapping abouts further down the table.
Pifco has obviously decided to settle for the percentage prize, not returning after last week's opening maxi, while StanleyHouse and TomD also joined me
on the forgetful step.
So the last game we won, 5 weeks ago now, was an unexpected triumph
against the league leaders, and they're now back on the list for next Saturday
. Doing the double over them, over there
, would make for a pleasant start to February, don'tcha think?
On Stanley On!
