And it made Valairian one of only two players to come away with 4 points
from the disaster at Fratton Park, Monkey Hanger being the other by correctly (and uniquely
) forecasting we wouldn't score. I was foolishly thinking my 3-2 Stanley was not looking too bad at half time, with a one-man advantage and all
.......
MH made better use of his fortune, climbing from 7th to 5th, while Val had to be content with 10th to 9th. And as nobody guessing a Stanley win or a draw picked up any points at all, the 3-pointers
also mostly made good progress. As headlined, Shurm moved back into a two point lead over Cashman at the very top, while Stevie R and Nige B pushed up into 3rd and 4th at the expense of the downwardly-mobile Mike A. Taypot stood still in 8th, but Tommy McQueen dropped a place from 9th to 10th thanks to Val's bonus.
Outside the elite, the other 3-pointers were AccyTom18 (12th to 11th), Ange B (15th to 13th) and Stanley Josh (16th to 15th). As everyone below this was pointless
, you will gather there were no more changes.
OK, my fault, I actually went to my first game for 2 years
. And I doff my silly hat to the Stanley Boys who kept making all the noise
for the full game in somewhat challenging circumstances.
So it's roll on the Robins to Fortress Wham next Saturday, and, dare I say it, the chance of a first double
for the season. It would be nice, with a tricky looking week to follow. Shooting practice required though - over the Clayton End out of the ground at home is one thing, over the Milton End at Pompey really requires a different sort of effort - but we managed it!
On Stanley On!!
