2024/25 Predicion League Game 33 v Doncaster Rovers (home0

2024/25 Prediction League Game 33 v City of Danum (home)

Gareth Edwards was interviewed after the France v Wales Six Nations game on 31st January which – you may recall – Wales lost 43-0, their worst-ever test match; he was asked if his team from the 1970s would have beaten the current Welsh side, and he said, Yes, but only just”

The interviewer asked, “Only just?”

Edwards replied “Yes, but to be fair, six of us are dead and the rest are in our 70’s”

Isn’t it, Boyo. Look you. Eisteddfod. Cariad

Starter for Ten; Notts Forest went to Exeter in the FA Cup on 11th Feb and won 4-2 on pens after a Desmond; not counting the GK, how many of the ten Exeter players who were on the pitch when the game started were still there when it finished?

It has been mooted that Donnie did us a favour on Tuesday gone, nicking all three points off Morecambe at the Count of Monte Christo Stadium. While I don’t want Morecambe to GreasyPole into the Bananarama, we should bear in mind that Donnie could do them a favour by nicking three points at Ours ……….. especially since we’ve only scored one goal in our last five games ………….

If you don’t know, Donnie was raised to City Status in 2021 as one of the towns chosen at the time of HM’s Platinum Jubilee, and is now known as The Rt Honourable Lord Doncaster of Doncaster; also elevated were Colchester and Milton Keynes, plus Bangor in NI, Stanley in the Falklands, Dunfermline, Douglas (IoM) and Wrexham (now “Hollywood City”)

Second Starter for Ten; Queen’s Park – currently 7th of 10 in the Scottish Championship – went to Ibrox in the Quarter Finals of the Scottish Cup; they did what neither Celtic nor Spurs could do, and went 1-0 up on 69 minutes….. Rangers “huffed and puffed” but couldn’t score, but in the 97th minute they were given a penalty; Rangers skipper James Tavernier took, and Calum Ferrie saved it

Queen’s Park are the third most successful in Scottish Cup History, but when did they last win it?

Head to head between us shows we’ve won five, drawn four and lost seven …….. between 2016 and 2021, though, we won 5 of 6 and drew the other ………. Flip side of that is that our last two games have resulted in beatings by 4-0 and 4-1

In their early days they were tipped out of the League twice, including in the infamous season (1904/05) when their record was P34 W3 D2 L29 for a still-record 8 points ……

Last season they finished 6th on 71 points; that gave them Crewe in the playoff semis, and they won 2-0 at Gresty Road, lost 2-0 at home, and lost after extra time (4-3 on pens) …… they had been 22nd after 31 games, but they won 10 of their last 11games …….. their only new signing since we played them last is RB Josh Emmanuel from Carlisle

Currently they’re in the automatic slots, courtesy of a single goal at Morecambe followed by a well-parked bus …………. Home record is W8 D4 L4 GF22 GA17, and away it’s W8 D3 L5 GF24 GA22, giving them 55 points; second place Wombles have 56, Notts Co and Bratfud have 54 each and Port Vale have 52, so applying Valarian’s Third Law they’re all safe from relegation ………… we’re 21st on 30 points, and Tranmere and Morecambe are sniffing at our heels, which is a disgusting pastime

Deadline for entries is, as always, scheduled kick-off time which (I think) is 3.00pm tomorrow, 22nd February; Morecambe host Walsall in one of the early games …….. Points, gentlemen, points and more points …………………

And Exeter in the FA Cup finished with their GK and three of the starting outfielders on the pitch, courtesy of five “routine” substitutes between 71 and 83 minutes, one “concussion” substitution on 103 mins, and a red card after 87 minutes. Oh, and by the way, Queen’s Park last won the Scottish Cup in 1893!

Good Luck to everyone! ……….. Keep the Faith! ……………….. And thanks for playing!
