39th minute goal by Tranmere

Couldnt make the match tonight but have been following it on BBC.

Did Stanley let Tranmere score in the 39th minute or is this just a coincidence?

My t'other half said to me earlier that may let one in on the 39th minute but this is weird because I know for a fact that he is never right about anything!!!

sorry couldnt resist the last bit!!!

Pure coincidence and a lucky guess by your better half

He had a big grin on his face when I told him.

Wish I had put a bet on it now, wonder what I would have got back??!!

Have to say I struggled to stay awake in this one. Maybe I've been spoilt from some of last season's displays but so far I feel that all I've seen since August is ale-house long balls and a distinct absence of decent football with passing the ball across the pitch.

Appreciated the hugely cut price admission tonight though, was like going back to 1990.

First Stanley match of the season for me (due to work commitments etc). There is some promise there. But 2 things disappointed me. 1. Since when have the Ultras influenced the team selection? Secondly, I thought the treatment of Akin was appalling when he was injured considering the problems of last week. Overall, thought we were unlucky to miss on 3 or 4 occasions but between the goalkeeper and the shooting boots, it was not to be our night. But I am not going to complain about the result, as long as we beat the bigger teams in the division e.g. Swindon this Saturday for a start, then I will be happy, just wish I could get there, but fate serves me a cruel hand and makes me work for the next 2 Saturdays, so the next game I could get to is Crawley away and then the following home match. We shall see.

Great effort from the boys last night. McIntyre played well, Procter had his usual good game. Craney held the ball up well but we were missing that cutting edge. How did the ball stay out during that goalmouth scramble in the second half?! Unlucky stanley or just poor finishing?

I too was ashamed of the treatment of Akin by the Clayton end idiots, plus all the young kids of about 10 years old running down to the front making the "W" gestures in his face. No wonder he looked bemused, all 6 foot 3 of him. Could have forgiven him for taking a swipe at the pests.
As for the game itself, I thought we lacked cohesion going forward. We needed someone to put a foot on the ball and use a bit of nous. I presume Charlie wasn't available due to injury, otherwise what does he have to do to get a start in this team?

Re: 39th minute goal by Tranmere

Think Coley summed the game up in his post match interview. You have to take your chances.
Thought defensively we were solid and Baxter got no change out of Long and Deano, despite being watched by Moyes.
Thought Dunbavin had a good game, together with both fullbacks.
Athough it was entertaining in parts,i still think we look open when playing 4-4-2 and we dont have any real wingers/natural wide men.
Coid and Amond compete well, but playing wide seems to hinder there game.
I think we would be a far more potent team if we could just hold the ball upfront more but its not happening enough and needs a lot more work on the training ground.

I was at the match last night with the Mrs. I thought it was a good game aprt from the score. Stanley had quite a few chances but didn't capitalise on any of them.

」2 on the gate I think is pretty good value, if they did on every home match I would go to every home home.

If they did that every game there wouldn't be a club to go and watch.

Tin Monkey, you are spot on there.」2 was a gift and to even suggest that price on every home game is an insult.there are bills to be paid eg floodlights etc. A good gesture from the club last night.
